The Brown Arts Institute oversees a number of creative facilities on campus, including those located in the Granoff Center for the Creative Arts and in The Lindemann Performing Arts Center. While some of our spaces can be used and booked without prior review by BAI staff, other spaces necessitate the use of proposal and request processes. More information on our scheduling philosophy and process can be found below.

Bookable Spaces
The spaces in this section generally can be booked for your use without the need to submit a request or proposal beforehand. Please note that some of the spaces below (such as Studio 4) do require you to complete specialized trainings before you can book times yourself, or require prior proposal submission for special circumstances.
Book a Practice Room in The Lindemann
On the rehearsal levels of The Lindemann, students can reserve four intimate rooms for short blocks of time to run lines, practice piano/other instruments, or rehearse in small groups.
Reserve the Studio 4 Creative Production
Note that reservations for Studio 4 are available ONLY once you have completed the three-part training for the space through our Creative Arts and Technology Spaces (CATS) team. The Studio 4 Creative Production is a reservable studio space located in the Granoff Center and equipped with a variety of tools to facilitate photography, video, performance, critique, sound art, projection mapping, installation, and more. Certain uses of Studio 4 do require prior proposal and approval.
Book a Recording Studio Session
Members of the Brown community are able to book 1-hour sessions in our Recording Studio, part of the Creative Arts and Technology Spaces (CATS) at BAI. Recording sessions are facilitated by our Recording Assistants, who can set up the studio mics for your session and work with you to get a clean, good quality recording. This service is meant to support creative discreet, small, one-off audio projects on campus.
Space Requests and Proposals
Cohen Gallery Letters of Interest (LOI) Submissions
This open call invites letters of interest (LOI) for exhibitions that engage the Cohen Gallery as a site for artistic experimentation, research, dialogue, and public engagement. Letters of interest may be submitted by eligible Brown-affiliated faculty, graduate students, and staff with curatorial responsibilities. LOIs for Fall 2027 are due no later than Tuesday, December 1.
Student Open Call for Exhibitions
Students throughout Brown University may apply to exhibit 2D, 3D, and digital media work in the corridors, living rooms, and interstitial spaces at the Granoff Center for the Creative Arts. Submissions are solicited through an open call process and reviewed throughout the academic year. All levels and media are welcome.
Main Hall Proposal Form
Submit your ambitious proposals for The Lindemann Performing Arts Center's Main Hall a minimum of two years in advance!
BAI Course Space Request Form
Departmental Chairs, Instructors of record, and Administrators are encouraged to use the BAI Venue course space request form to formally request teaching space in The Lindemann Performing Arts Center and the Granoff Center for the Creative Arts.
