Since its foundation in 2016, the Brown Arts Initiative has reaffirmed and celebrated the role of the arts at the heart of Brown's distinctive Open Curriculum by providing original creative collaborations, interdisciplinary programs, and innovative and bold engagement with important artistic, social, and environmental issues at Brown and beyond. In 2021, through the recommendation of the Task Force, the creation of a vital and interdisciplinary Brown Arts Institute became a reality.
