To launch an interdisciplinary Interrogating the Classics Series in Spring 2022, the BAI is hosting an intercollegiate tour of Uprooting Medea, a film and theatre project created by upcoming Visiting Artist Shivaike Shah, and Medea co-creator, Francesca Amewudah-Rivers. Uprooting Medea, an exploration of Euripides’s Medea, led by the all-global majority U.K.-based Khameleon Productions, Limited.
During the Uprooting Medea tour, Khameleon will discuss their new film, directed by Riffy Ahmed, which reimagines the Greek Tragedy with an all-global majority cast and crew, and features original compositions, movement and spoken word commissioned by the company. In addition, Shah will teach classes, present drama workshops, and lead roundtable conversations with students and staff across multiple subjects. Khameleon’s Medea tour concludes with a return to Brown, where Shah will lead a three-day colloquium for representatives from all the tour venues, hosting live panels on topics explored in the company’s original podcast series Khameleon Classics, which interrogates the history and legacy of Classics.
