2020 has turned into a very strange year indeed, with kitchen tables remade into offices and classrooms, computer screens remade into theaters and concert venues, and the west coast's blue skies remade into something from dystopian films. Though the BAI began planning for REMAKING the real in 2019, the stakes of simply living through 2020 have given this theme a new urgency. We are pleased to share our programs with you as we try to navigate what surely feels unreal, together.
The REMAKING the real 2020-2021 programs address issues of artistic connections and corrections to historical records and archives, and constructing personae as strategies of artistic, authorial, and performative creation.
Stay tuned for announcements about our Spring 2021 programs.
