Guidelines

The Annual Student Exhibition is held in the spring semester of each year. The exhibition dates for 2025 are March 6 through April 6, with an opening reception on March 6. Students from any concentration are encouraged to submit their work in a variety of media.

SUBMISSIONS

  • Only currently enrolled Brown University students (undergraduate or graduate) may submit artwork.
  • There is no fee for submitting works.
  • Each artist may submit a maximum of 2 works.
  • All media will be accepted, subject to university health and safety policies.
  • There are no size limitations.

JURYING

  • Jurors are selected by an undergraduate committee from a pool of local art curators and academics.
  • Jurors are only notified of the title, year, dimensions, medium, and installation instructions for each artwork. Selections are made by artwork, not by artist.
  • It is inappropriate for students to contact jurors regarding selection choices before or after jury decisions have been made.

EXHIBITION

  • The exhibition will be on display at the Granoff Center for the Creative Arts (154 Angell St, Providence, RI 02906). There will be an opening reception for the exhibition on Thursday, March 6, 2025.
  • All materials necessary for the installation and display must be delivered with the work.
  • Work selected for the exhibition must be available for the entire installation and exhibition period. No exceptions will be made.
  • Selected works must be delivered to the Granoff Center for the Creative Arts during specified hours. Works will not be accepted after the deadline. Late works will not be included in the exhibition.
  • Staff will be responsible for the installation and display of the exhibition. Staff will make every reasonable effort to accommodate the installation. In exceptional circumstances, staff will contact artists directly regarding the procedure for larger or complicated works.

PUBLICITY

  • Images of works will be used in the documentation and promotion of the exhibition via the Brown Arts Institute and Brown University websites and social media.
