Brown Dance

The arts are integral to the academic mission of Brown University and fundamental to critical inquiry into the most important questions facing the world today. That is why "cultivating creative expression" is an essential component of the University's Building on Distinction strategic plan, which seeks to enhance Brown's reputation as the "Creative Ivy" engendered by its rigorous fusion of arts practice and scholarship. As part of its BrownTogether capital campaign, the University is investing $225 million in the arts—$60 million for program expansion, $15 million for improvements to existing facilities, and $150 million for a new performing arts center—to further establish Brown as a leading destination for experimental arts practice and scholarship.
